I created NutritionBreakown because I want there to be a place online for people to share factual and useful nutrition information (amidst all the gimmicks and trends and products that pop up as the next latest and greatest thing ever). My friends and family (especially the Dude, thanks for the inspiration!) are always asking me about diets and supplements and trends. As I began to investigate things more thoroughly, I realized just how confusing it is to figure out what real. I started to debunk the things that lacked any credit whatsoever. I saw that some things are legit. I saw a need for accurate information, and !!viola!! a lightbulb went on. I set off to create this blog to write about what’s really going on.
The nutrition industry is absolutely enormous, with so many different trends and products and famous people endorsing things and people writing books about nutrition and health everyday. It is no small job to keep on top of everything that’s going on and figure out what’s real and what’s not. It’s frustrating to me that there is an abundance of misinformation out there (to put it kindly). We have so many options for anything from bread and milk to protein this and that to supplements. Americans are spending billions of dollars on all of these things. As a consumer I want to make informed decisions about what I am putting in my body and why. As a nutrition professional I have more questions than answers.
